John Szymkiw was born in Nottingham and qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant in 1982.

After a number of years in industry in various positions he became Commercial Director and Company Secretary of John Beales plc.

Subsequently he joined Price Waterhouse as a management consultant operating in a number of sectors both in the UK and abroad.

On leaving the profession he became Finance Director, then Managing Director and finally Chairman of Fogarty Holdings Limited. During this time he led two management buy-outs of the company, latterly buying out the venture capital owners. In 2009 he sold and exited from the business.
