Mel Mason

Mel Mason was formerly Global CIO at Experian having joined that business in 2003. Information technology is fundamental for Experian who operate credit bureaus across the world as well as providing many software solutions to businesses and consumers leveraging its abundant data assets.

Prior to Experian, Mel was IT Director for GUS Homeshopping. Whilst in that role his responsibilities were increased to include the customer service and risk management functions, both of which were material to the homeshopping business.

Information technology has been central to his career. After graduating in mathematics he initially joined Hawker Siddeley developing systems for aircraft design and marketing. Subsequently, he joined Tesco thriving through a period of huge change. Amongst other responsibilities there, he managed the development of its warehouse, store replenishment systems as well as the introduction of EPOS. He also successfully commissioned a new purpose-built data centre for Tesco.

Interests include squash, rugby, golf and music.
