Michael Freyd
Member of the Board of Governors
Michael Freyd was born and educated in Manchester, at the University of Hull and Birkbeck College London. He holds a degree in Economics.
He entered the City in 1969 as a trainee stockbroker with Phillips and Drew, and became a partner with that firm in 1980. During that period he helped launch the equity options market and was also appointed to the Board of the London Traded Options Market
In 1987 he was appointed a deputy-managing director of UBS Securities and later assumed responsibility for all equity derivative sales and trading in London. In 1993 he was made Head of the Global Clearing Coordination Unit
In 1994 he joined Objective Asset Management as a director in charge of business development. He also managed some efficient tracking and protected funds both using derivatives.
He chose to retire from the City in 1999. He now acts as Treasurer of the training charity First Rung and as a Trustee of Age UK, Enfield.
Hobbies include chess, bridge and golf.
