Tony Brierley
Member of the Board of Governors
Tony Brierley is a Solicitor, having originally qualified as a Barrister. He was born and went to school in Nottingham, before joining his family's business. He took a law degree at what is now Nottingham Trent University and then went on to study at the Inns of Court School of Law.
After almost 25 years in the international private equity business, he retired from the FTSE100 company, 3i Group plc, in December 2007 where, for the previous 12 years, he had been General Counsel and Company Secretary and a member of the group's Management Committee, with specific responsibility for the group's legal, compliance and internal audit functions world-wide.
In addition to his involvement with Nottingham Trent University, he is a non-executive Director of City of London Group plc and The Pensions Regulator, a member of the Council of The Royal College of Art and a trustee director of a FTSE100 company pension fund. His interests include collecting and the arts. He lives in Nottinghamshire and London.
