By rail

Nottingham Midland Station is the mainline train station close to the city centre. Timetable information for your journey is available at the National Rail website. If you book a few weeks in advance, however, you may find cheaper tickets through The Trainline or Virgin Trains.

Getting to the City site

Nottingham train station is a fifteen minute walk from the City site, but for those new to the city it might be easier to use public transport. Upon arrival follow the signs for the tram (Nottingham Express Transit), which is at the side of the train station. Nottingham Trent University's City site has its own tram stop on Goldsmith Street, which is four stops along from the train station. An off-peak one-way ticket costs £1.70, and an all day tram pass is £3.20.

  • If you do want to walk then leave the train station and cross the pedestrian crossing, turn right towards the Broadmarsh shopping centre.
  • Walk directly through the shopping centre and continue to walk up Lister Gate and then Wheeler Gate until you reach the Market Square. Cross over the square and walk up Market Street where you will see the Theatre Royal. Behind the Theatre, you will find the Concert Hall and the University's Newton building.
  • Keep these on your left and you will arrive on Shakespeare Street, which is the nucleus of the City site.

Getting to the Clifton campus

Nottingham Midland Rail Station is located approximately five miles from Clifton campus. A taxi from the train station to the campus will cost around £10. However a much better value-for-money method is to get the UniLink bus service, which travels every 15 minutes between both sites. Take the directions above to the City site and get the bus from there. This bus is the only bendy bus service in Nottingham and proudly carries the NTU logo and name. It costs £1.70 for a single journey or £3.40 for an all-day bus and tram pass. The UniLink service begins at 7.30 am and finishes at 9.15 pm during term-time.

Getting to Brackenhurst campus

Nottingham Midland Station is located approximately thirteen miles from Brackenhurst campus. A taxi from the train station will cost around £25, so it's better to use public transport where possible. Leave the train station and cross the pedestrian crossing, turn right towards the Broadmarsh shopping centre. Walk directly through the shopping centre and continue to walk up Lister Gate and then Wheeler Gate until you reach the Market Square. Get the bus service 100 from King Street (just off the square). They run every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every 60 minutes on Sunday.
