Franchise and joint delivery provision
Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is involved in over 100 course collaborations of these types, with partners in more than 30 countries around the world.
These partnerships can often vary in type. In some instances, the arrangement is as simple as an Advanced Standing Agreement, whereby a course at another institution gathers officially sanctioned credit towards joining a particular course at NTU in the second, third or fourth year. In other partnerships, NTU may be collaborating for a larger purpose, e.g. for the delivery of a whole course. This might be a joint degree (i.e. a single certificate, bearing the crests of all partners involved in delivery), a dual degree (where certificates are obtained for awards from all partners in the collaboration) or a franchise (where the degrees are issued by NTU, for an NTU course taught at a partner institution).
In some cases we have partners running a number of such courses with more than one of our academic Schools. Find out more about these partnerships on the current partner institutions page.
In the FAQ and glossary section of this website you will find information on other partnerships that are within the franchise and joint delivery type.
Management of the partnerships
All of these arrangements are managed at NTU through the academic School covering the subject area involved. The School will have provided a named individual as co-ordinator for the arrangement, and there will be a School Quality Manager designated to oversee all of the collaborations that fall into the boundaries of that particular School.
Within CPO, the Schools and Franchises Collaborative Partnerships Senior Officer overviews the consistency of management of these collaborations from NTU's side. They act as an advisor and planner for colleagues in Schools, existing and prospective partner institutions, and a point of liaison with other important departments at NTU involved in the running of these courses and collaborations. This includes departments such as the Centre for Academic Development and Quality.
If you’re interested in our work in this area, or indeed in collaborating on something new with one of our Schools, email the CPO Manager, Chris Cox, for an initial discussion, or call +44 (0)115 848 8916.
