Broadway Cinema Media Centre (film, digital film and 3D cinema)
Broadway Cinema and Media Centre is a highly regarded independent cinema with a media centre, which provides incubator opportunities with a suite of offices for small business and freelance partners. The organisation has a vast amount of experience in film and video production and in 2004 Broadway merged with Intermedia and Film Video.
Intermedia has developed and produced a number of features, shorts, documentaries, community and educational projects over the years, working with organisations including the UK Film Council, BBC, FilmFour, Carlton TV, ITV, First Light and Heritage Lottery. Intermedia Film and Video's legacy is best defined through the Headstart production training course, which concentrated specifically on film and video and ran over a year period. It was a huge accomplishment, with many graduates going on to make a significant mark in the industry. Successful graduates include:
- feature film directors Shane Meadows (Dead Man's Shoes and This is England), Steven Sheil (Mum and Dad) and Chris Cooke (One for the Road)
- documentary director Jeanie Finlay (Love Bites, Teenland)
- film producers Al Clark and Rachel Robey, who make up Wellington films (London to Brighton).
Broadway also produces The Broadsheet, which offers a window on the work going on in the city, with local and national information about film and media.
