Nottingham College triumphant at Lord's
A Nottingham college have won the 2008 Lord's Taverners Table Cricket tournament at Lord's, the England and Wales Cricket Board website reports. Portland College won the coveted title after an exciting final against Oxclose Community College.
Onlookers included former England captain Mike Gatting; Eastenders actors Ricky Groves and Cliff Parisi; and TV presenter Judith Chalmers.
The national tournament, now in its tenth year, had a record entry of more than 60 teams taking part in the regional heats around the country, with some 400 children taking part.
