BArch (Hons) Architecture

How did you first hear about NTU?
I had been aware of Nottingham Trent University (NTU) for a long time. A lot of my friends had already studied here and really recommended the University and Nottingham as a city. When I came to visit them I really fell in love with NTU so much I didn't even consider anywhere else! With Architecture moving into the newly renovated Newton and Arkwright buildings it made a really great impression. The facilities are really impressive and it caters for everything I wanted to do, so it was an easy decision to come here to study.

As an international student, how did you find the support?
I found the international orientation really helpful when I arrived. Through there I met a lot of people from Cyprus and Greece, which was a great way of meeting new friends. It is difficult moving to a new country, so being around people with the same background and experiences helped me feel more at home. I've also joined the Architecture Society and the Cypriot Society. I think it’s important to be involved in all aspects of university life and it has been a great way to meet new people and get the most out of my time here. The Cypriot Society works with the University of Nottingham so I get to meet people I might not have had chance to otherwise, which has been amazing.

What is the best thing about Architecture?
With the tutors coming from different countries and backgrounds, you get a real knowledge base to learn from. The course doesn't just focus on design, but also looks at the economical and technical side, which are really important areas of expertise to add to my CV. I've already recommended the course to a lot of my friends in Cyprus and they'll be coming across when they're able! I told them that studying here gives you the basis for a career, but they have to be involved and be prepared to work very hard.

What are your plans after you finish your degree?
After I finish my Undergraduate degree I'm already planning to do my Masters (MArch) in Architecture and maybe a PhD, here at NTU. I feel that the University has everything I need to achieve a great career.
