What interested you about Quantity Surveying?
I chose to study Quantity Surveying at NTU when I was in Sixth Form. I was uncertain of what I wanted to do and quantity surveying was appealing because not only is there a demand for them, but some of the work is done in the office and some out on site. It can also lead you to all corners of the globe.
What projects did you work on whilst on placement?
My work placement was with Buckingham Group Contracting, and I was based at Silverstone Circuit, where the new Pit lane, Paddock and “Wing” was under construction. I joined during week eight of the project, when the steel began going up and worked through to the completion of the project in July. This was a really interesting project to get involved as it is based at such an iconic sporting venue, as well as personally being a Formula One follower.
Would you recommend NTU and your course?
I would definitely recommend NTU and my course. NTU has proven itself as one of the best universities for graduate employment rates which is always a comforting prospect whilst at university. The course provides a great introduction into the industry and gives you much of the knowledge needed to be a successful quantity surveyor.
NTU has a wide range of facilities for use providing for pretty much all sports. They've got a huge range of societies to join too which are well worth a look at which give you great opportunities to meet new people and try something new. Nottingham has the most concentrated number of bars, restaurants and clubs within one square mile than anywhere else in Europe. You re spoilt for things to do!
