What were you doing before you came to NTU?
Before I came to NTU I played for Port Vale Football Club for three years, two as an apprentice and one as a professional in League One. However, I grew up around a lot of people within the construction industry and always had a interest in the quantity surveying field. I was also attracted by the use of math within quantity surveying, which is a subject used in the career which I enjoy the most.
Would you recommend NTU and your course?
I would definitely recommend coming to Nottingham Trent University. I believe that the structure of learning enables you to get be successful in your own degree but the social and sporting aspects within the University really combine to make a great experience. Coming to university is possibly the best decision I have ever made. I think it’s a good university that has provided me with a great platform to go into industry feeling ready to further my theoretical knowledge into practice.
What are your plans for the future?
I starting a job in September as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor. I want to get qualified to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in a three year period but will also look to do a masters back at this university within that time. The job I have acquired is working for RiderLevettBucknall at their Welwyn Garden City branch as a Private Quantity Surveyor. The job was acquired after applying online through their `protege` recruitment drive. I became aware of the company after they made a presentation at NTU.
