Did Balfour Beatty encourage you towards the course, or did you approach them to ask to study a degree?
My company actively encouraged me to look at a degree course as I had no formal forms of qualification prior to me joining. After looking at the role that I was capable of fulfilling within the company and the potential it was felt that I would be best suited to this course and they agreed to support me as much as possible.

What do you think the benefits of studying a part-time course are for you as an individual?
The benefits of completing the course part-time for me are that I have managed to complete a degree course without the burden of debts. I have also found that as a more mature student that the benefits of my experience can be passed over in the seminars to those also working in the industry along with applying what I have learned at the same time.

What do you enjoy most about your course?
The course has allowed me to mix and meet other people in a variety of role, positions and industries that perhaps would not have ordinarily come into contact with. I have enjoyed my time at NTU and have not just learned but have become more engaged with the industry with the knowledge I have acquired.  The lecturers have also ensured that the material delivered has been educational, emotive and relevant.

Would you recommend the course at NTU to other colleagues at work?
I would have no reservations in recommending this course to other colleagues and could encourage them to undertake it at NTU! The course provides a great introduction into the industry and gives you much of the knowledge needed to be a successful quantity surveyor.
