Thomas Wareham
BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (part-time)

What do you think the benefits of you studying are for the company you work for?
It enables me to broaden my knowledge of the job role as a whole. As the workplace is often very busy, there is not always time for colleagues to be able to explain things thoroughly, which is where study at University can help to fill the gaps. The company also notices my development and understanding of the tasks presented to me which I would most often say originates from studies.

What have been the main challenges for you, studying on a part-time day release course – personally, professionally and academically?
Working full time (four days per week) alongside the course can be challenging as the amount of studying involved after working hours and at weekends puts a lot of pressure on your social life. You have to make sure you manage your time well and set aside time for keeping in touch with the people and / or hobbies close to you.

How do you hope this degree will boost your career progression after you've graduated?
As I will have five years experience and the degree, it will make me a better prospect for any future career progression or promotions from an employers perspective.
