Harry Wells graduated in 2010 and is currently working as a Junior Designer at Benchmark Furniture whilst continuing to develop his own portfolio of work. His major project was a dining table and bench based around CNC machining and specialising in 3D surface design. Harry took part in exhibitions throughout 2011 and will be manufacturing it to sell this summer.

What do you think of NTU and your course?
NTU is a great place to study, right in the city with such great facilities and the new buildings are such an inspiration. The course facilities are fantastic, the workshops particularly impressed me. If I had an idea, I had the people and the machinery around me to allow it to happen.

What was the highlight of your degree?
The third year placement is a must, a great experience not to be missed. I did three internships over the 14 month period, all based in London. I felt I was ready for a change of pace and a taste of real design projects. The placement year came at the perfect time to give me motivation and fresh ideas going into my final year. Employers are motivated by experience so the placement year gave me a real boost in terms of finding work.
