"I have enjoyed my first two years at Nottingham Trent University studying this programme. The diversity of skills I’ve learnt is huge, from learning about technical drawing and variety of CAD packages to the way I now approach my work. This range of skills has allowed me to gain a base knowledge, which I have taken into my placement and developed hugely.
"NTU appealed to me most because of the University’s strong links with industry. I wanted to take a year out on placement as part of my degree to gain the experience, which I think is vital when looking for a job after graduating.
"My ability as a designer has improved every day whilst being on placement. I am constantly learning about the industry by working with a team of designers, electrical engineers and CAD specialists.
"The placement experience is definitely confirming what I thought I wanted to do with regards to my future career. The lively, creative atmosphere, combined with the engineering and technical side of design, is the perfect balance for what I am interested in.
"Working on placement has also encouraged me to pursue a career path in design engineering. My interest in technology and computers, combined with my natural creativity, makes this job role perfect for me. It has also made my career choice much easier."
