What attracted you to study at NTU?
The course modules at NTU appealed to me at first; knowing I would be able to familiar myself with a broad range of property based subjects before specialising in the third year.  I was also influenced by the opportunity of a sandwich-year the University offers.  NTU is highly regarded when it comes to employers in the property industry and I thought it would be beneficial to do a year out before my final year.

Can you explain what roles you undertook in your placements?
I worked for the first six months with a development and investment firm in Warrington.  I experienced a mixture of both investment and development during my stay, getting involved with appraisals and learning the details of how to execute each successfully amongst other property matters.  My final six months was spent with a firm of Chartered Surveyors in Salford. I gained valuable experience of both commercial and residential management along with working on lease renewals, rent reviews and valuations.

What was the highlight of your placement year?
The highlight of my placement year was the diversity of work I experienced in both of my placements.  I would constantly be doing different work each day and it really was a mixed bag in terms of office work and work in the field.  One day I could be in the office writing up a lease, the next I could be out on an inspection measuring warehouses or residential units in North Manchester.
