BSc (Hons) Planning and Property Development
Placement company: Colliers International, Hanoi, Vietnam
Position: Undergraduate Surveyor

What projects have you worked on so far?
I have been encouraged by how much responsibility I was given so soon in my placement, it really is a sink or swim environment.  Since joining Colliers International in Vietnam, I have worked on several key projects.  I have been part of several major Valuation and Research contracts including a new urban township development.  The site was over two hundred hectares in size and we valued the development at over $3 Billion USD.  I have also worked on feasibility studies for several five star hotel developments located in North Vietnam. We have worked on a Marketing project for an 80,000sqm grade A office building which Colliers International are currently leasing.

What is it like living in Vietnam?
I've meet some great people since arriving in Vietnam.  It took a while to adapt to living in such an intense country which is constantly moving at hundred miles per hour.  Driving to work on a scooter every morning alongside five million others in a country that has no road rules has been an interesting experience!

Have you done much travelling since starting?
I've had the chance to travel around Vietnam to places such as Halong Bay and Ho Chi Minh City, as well spending Christmas day on a beach in Thailand.  Being part of some huge projects in a rapidly emerging country, while gaining some priceless experience has been great.  Especially in a country which is difficult to work in, it's been very rewarding.  What I've learnt will prove to be invaluable in the long run has been a major highlight to the year.  I worked hard to secure the placement out in Vietnam and am very happy to have been given an opportunity to work here.
