Why did you choose to study this course?
A building site has been my playground ever since I was young. I've grown up in a family that dealt with real estate, my father built a considerable property empire in Nigeria and my Grandfather was Chief architect to the nation. It was always something I was interested in and passionate about which I feel is key to being successful in this field.
What do you most enjoy about your course? What are it's strengths?
Where do I begin! NTU is blessed to have one of the best lecturing staff; lectures and seminars give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge. Students are more open to helping one another, in a sense mimicking what the real working world situation will be like. You cant always be good at everything, but if you can find the right help obstacles can be dealt with.
Could you tell me about your work placement? What did you get involved in? What did you learn?
CRCC is currently working on a six billion dollar project for the Lagos State government called the Lekki free trade zone. I have been asked to asses the Federal government contract for the construction of a Tax academy and my task was to evaluate the proposal and draw up a list of what CRCC needed to provide to bid for the contract. I have accompanied the Chief Engineer to the Lekki free trade zone site as he was undertook inspections. I have also communicated with other clients from the private sector and dealt with communications between CRCC and its sub-contractors.
