"The atmosphere at the university is sociable and friendly. Student accommodation is located close to everything you could ever need – lecture theatres, libraries, shops and entertainment venues are all within walking distance. The transport services are also very regular and you can get to so many places in and around Nottingham easily.
"The placement year has given me a fantastic and invaluable insight into the world of surveying. It has been a rewarding opportunity whereby you have the chance to use and apply everything you have learnt in the previous two years. Certainly for me it has been confirmation that surveying is the right career choice as well as showing me the vast range of options and career branches that could be pursued. Like learning a language, you learn so much faster when immersed in that environment.
"The best aspect of this industry is that it is transferable and international so there is always the opportunity to travel. I was taken to Paris with two colleagues to meet with an international investment company for a meeting and delicious business lunch. The purpose of this was to bring together the investment company and a mutual client in order to strengthen their relationship and instigate future projects between the two.
"The placement has confirmed that surveying is the right career choice but also that the degree pathway is not quite the one for me which is why I shall transfer to the Real Estate Management pathway when I return for my final year which will teach me more on the investment side of property."
