Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)
The University has been running Knowledge Transfer Partnerships for over 25 years that have helped many organisations improve competitiveness and profitability.
KTPs are established, government-supported programmes to help businesses increase their competitiveness and productivity through better use of the knowledge, technology and skills available within UK universities.
With an emphasis on promoting enterprise, innovation and growth, the remit for KTP projects is wide and can focus on:
- design and development
- manufacturing processes
- logistics and systems
- management and operations
- marketing and sales.
Depending on the size of your business, government sponsorship will provide a grant to cover up to 67% of project costs.
Essentially, a KTP is a three-way partnership between you (a business), NTU and a high-calibre graduate (the Associate) who actually works within the business. We can work with you to prepare your project proposal under the guidance of the regional KTP adviser.
Once a project has been approved, we jointly recruit the graduate (KTP appointments are highly sought-after). The project usually lasts two years. Support is provided through regular visits and input from the NTU specialist working with the Associate. Members of the partnership meet formally at set intervals to monitor progress.
