PG Cert Real Estate and Construction
PGDip/MSc Real Estate Construction and Development
PGDip/MSc Real Estate Investment and Management

Part-time, delivered in central and eastern Europe

Develop your skills and improve your career prospects locally and internationally.

These awards are designed to enhance your professional career and provide a deeper understanding and internationalisation of real estate and construction. They offer an efficient and effective route to professional status and membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

The programmes are run as a partnership between Nottingham Trent University and Sheffield Hallam University, so are supported by experienced tutors from two UK universities which offer some of the longest established and largest built environment programmes in the UK.

We welcome graduates from related or unrelated disciplines who want to become real estate professionals. The courses provide an entry route to the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) of the RICS.

The courses suit professionals working in a wide variety of contexts including real estate consultants, construction and development companies, finance companies, banks and management consultants who have real estate consulting activities.

Nottingham Trent University is renowned for its commitment to learning and teaching and has considerable experience of offering education and training in the region. In particular the University was responsible for the developing, managing and part-delivering of the successful MSc Real Estate in Budapest, Hungary. This was the first RICS-accredited programme in the region. Nottingham Trent University also manages and delivers a masters programme in Germany and contributes to the teaching of a RICS-accredited course in Spain. In addition to the bespoke development of these programmes, valuation and investment training courses have been delivered to leading real estate consultants in the region.

About the courses

Two awards are offered. One focuses on real estate investment and management, the other on construction and development. There are common modules and independent modules and an interdisciplinary project to make sure that real-life approaches to major projects are embedded into the teaching philosophy.

The courses are designed in three stages:

1. Certificate
A common certificate for both awards builds on the foundation stage and examines economics of land use and construction and environment, sustainability and development from a ‘big picture’ perspective using case studies and examples from several different countries.

2. Diploma
Following a common research methods module (designed to encourage early engagement in thinking about your individual consultancy project) the routes split into two dedicated modules.

If you choose the construction and development route you take modules in project and cost management and development processes, procurement and value engineering.

If you choose the investment and management route you take modules in corporate, investment and asset management and valuation, investment and finance.

3. Masters
The Masters route begins with a dynamic interdisciplinary project where groups of students from both routes work in mixed teams on a complex ‘live’ development project in the UK.

Finally, you undertake an individual consultancy project designed to integrate work-based, professional and academic approaches. You complete this with the support of a dedicated supervisor.
