Creative Reuse Centre

The creative reuse centre is located within the heart of nottingham using the former odeon site on angel row. The centre will teach people about recycling and encourage them to be more creative with recyclable products.

The design has been inspired by the lifecycle of a recyclable product. this is reflected in the spatial layout of the building, as well as the variety of spaces available to the different groups of users. A range of sustainable products and materials have also been used within the design.

Star gazing building

Connecting people with the sky both in the day time and night time through cloud watching and star gazing.
The site consists of a series of buildings which once were a 17th century lead mine. It is located in the depths of the peak district as to avoid heavy light pollution. The new structures respectfully wrap around the existing buildings to allow people to appreciate the historical site.

Filter House theatre

The new filter house theatre brings contemporary dance to the tranquil countryside of Low Bradfield.

The venue forms an institution for performing arts offering two contrasting auditoriums, rehearsal spaces and daytime facilities for performers. The design brings hidden aspects to the centre, which enables a deeper level of communication and connection to the surrounds and music. Overall creating a visual and dynamic environment for a multi sensory experience.

Botanical medical centre

My centre grows its own herbal products using indoor hydroponic growing techniques and produces all of its own medicine giving the customer peace of mind. The centre creates a personal experience for the customer, by taking each individual customer through the whole process, informing them of the plants that will be within the medicine and how the medicine is made.

Bringing the spirit of the vineyard to birmingham city centre.
Site: Birmingham Central Library.
Combining modern and traditional wine making methods, the building adapts and evolves based on the annual cycle of the vineyards and production processes, meaning no 2 visits to the winery will be the same.

Music and dance have always been a part of culture and society. From tribal celebrations to community gatherings, music and dance have bought people together creating bonds and connections with one another.
‘exposure’ is a new contemporary venue for performing arts in nottingham that bridges the gap between audience and the performer. Its thriving and interactive environment provides a base for nottingham’s undiscovered raw talent.

The many distractions of every day life interfere with the focus needed to observe. Isolated in the thames estuary off the coast of Whitstable Kent, the seven world war two, anti-aircraft reds and sea forts provide the perfect structures to create an environment in which observation becomes the main focus.

Protruding forms through the existing concrete framework of the building allow one to peek into other spaces. These controlled visual connections of unexpected spaces not only bring an element of surprise, but also vary the light intensity within the building to highlight the art on display.

Situated on the banks of the River Trent, the workshop draws inspiration from the surrounding scenic beauty and the connotations that the water imparts. The design language of LINKED is underpinned by the conceptual interplay of the ‘injection of life’.

St Mary's Free School

This project seeks to redefine the spatial threshold of st mary’s primary school, re–establishing the school as a core part of the community by taking advantage of the governments new free schools programme.

The main concept for the project will be the theories of fluidity and structure focusing on the two conflicting states, which co-exist within a school. The schools curriculum will be based on Steiner Education with the internal environment encouraging social interaction between all age groups in order to improve social skills and strengthen friendships.

This project seeks to redefine the spatial threshold of st mary’s primary school, re–establishing the school as a core part of the community by taking advantage of the governments new free schools programme.

Film Studies School

The concept for this project is ‘obstruction’, to retain privacy within a teaching environment against an adjacent atrium providing space for efficient movement.  The central void permits light to travel vertically and spread through each level in which a focal staircase on the ground floor is highlighted to encourage its use to the upper floor levels.

Soundscape transforms the former Nottingham Odeon into a place for learning and performing classical music. Within this project I have been able to combine my two passions, music and design. The design tries to get rid of the stereotypes associated with classical music and create a more easily approachable, informal atmosphere and therefore reach a wider audience. The inspiration for the design is drawn from the sound of an orchestral tuning: the random and every time different combinations of sounds create the soundscape, a space which is experienced as a stream of voices.
