Papers are requested on the following themes:

  • technical textiles / wearable devices
  • personal / home robotics
  • clinical and medical devices
  • smart packaging
  • intelligent environments.

It is appreciated that it is not always obvious which theme is the most appropriate but authors are encouraged to submit proposals in the domain in which they would like their paper to be timetabled.

All submissions are subject to double blind peer review and final decisions on acceptances are taken by the lead assessors for each theme.  Each paper accepted for individual presentation will be allocated a maximum of 30 minutes for presentation and discussion.

The conference proceedings will be published by Springer.

Submission
Please email your submission of all abstracts and papers to Smart Design Conference.

In order to maintain the high quality of papers presented at the conference and to ensure that the review process has access to a sufficient level of detail on paper proposals, the submitting authors are asked to provide an initial abstract for peer review before a full paper for peer review.

Abstract
A 300-word summary of the proposal which will be printed in the published conference programme and conference proceedings.

Full papers on acceptance of abstract
Full papers should state clearly the title of the paper, the name of the authors and their affiliations as they should appear in the conference proceedings, the name of the person or persons who will be presenting the work at the conference, again with the affiliations as they should appear in the conference proceedings.

Full papers and final print ready papers need to be submitted in accordance with the Springer formatting guidelines and be a maximum length of six pages. Authors should use the downloadable Word template with macros enabled to edit their paper.  A guideline for authors PDF icon specific to this conference is also available.

Please note that the numbered referencing system is used.

Any papers not submitted in the correct format risk being rejected from the acceptance process.

The language for the conference is English.
