Sustainability Means Business - 13 March 2012

Some of the UK's most successful companies will be guiding small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) in the East Midlands towards better understanding the importance of incorporating sustainability and carbon credentials into their business.

Representatives from Speedo International and Puma will be sharing their knowledge and experience of implementing sustainability into the supply chain at an event being delivered by Nottingham Trent University's sustainable design project Future Factory.

Speaking from Puma will be Stefan Seidel, Head of PUMA. Safe Ecology, and from Speedo International, their Head of Corporate Responsibility Robert Brown.

The event, Sustainability Means Business, will be held at Nottingham Conference Centre on Tuesday 13 March 2012, and will look at the growing importance of SMEs being able to understand and demonstrate the sustainability/carbon credentials of their products, processes or services.

As big business moves to achieve carbon reduction targets the pressure placed upon SMEs to show improvements of the environmental sustainability is increasing. All SMEs, particularly those in a supply chain, now need to understand and address this matter. Failure of SME businesses to heed this direction will almost certainly result in loss of contracts and market space.

The event will look at the issues, and hear from those at the top of big businesses about the importance they place on the environmental sustainability of their supply chain. Delegates will also hear from SME businesses about their attempts in addressing sustainability along with experts on green marketing, climate change and sustainability.

A number of lecturers from Nottingham Trent University will also speak at the event, sharing their knowledge and ideas on what the future of sustainability looks like and how to market your green credentials.

SME businesses from across the region are invited to attend this complimentary event. Although targeted towards those involved in any aspect of supply chains, the day is open to SMEs in any sector and will prove beneficial to anyone looking to improve on their environmental sustainability or use green credentials in marketing.

All delegate places are being subsidised by Future Factory, a sustainable design project run via Nottingham Trent University. Get further details on this event or book your free place by emailing Future Factory or telephoning them on +44 (0)115 848 8675.
