A colourful final for Laura and Anna

Anna Piper, BA (Hons) Textile Design, and Laura Barnes, BA (Hons) Decorative Arts, both presented their work at the regional finals at Loughborough University, coming first and third respectively.

The competition was open to students in higher or further education studying for a first degree or diploma in Fashion or Textile Design. The brief was to demonstrate the creative, imaginative and original use of colour in either fashion or textiles. Entrants were asked to submit design developments and to think about ‘Fashioning Colour Responsibly’, highlighting issues around sustainability and environmentally friendly textiles and fashion.

Anna will now go forwards to the Grand Final in autumn 2012 where a global winner will be announced. The winner will receive the SDC Colour Design Award 2012, a cash prize of £1,000 and the Veronica Bell Trophy.
