We're looking forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary with everyone involved in Nottingham Business School, both past and present.

Nottingham Business School, part of Nottingham Trent University, is beginning its 30 year anniversary celebrations with a guest lecture from Richard Lambert, Director General of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), on 8 October.

The lecture ‘Business and universities in challenging times’ will consider the impact of the current economic and political environment on the UK’s world class higher education sector, the role that business can play and the wider implications for the UK economy.

Throughout the year other high profile speakers will also visit the Business School, including Eric Cornuel, Director General of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD); Charlotte Hogg, Managing Director of Experian in the UK and Ireland; Ian McCafferty, Chief Economic Adviser and Director, economics and enterprise at CBI; and ex-‘Dragon’ and technology entrepreneur, Doug Richard.

Founded in 1979, Nottingham Business School has grown to be one of the UK’s largest full-service business schools. It currently has 3,000 undergraduate students, 1,000 postgraduate and professional students and 1,000 delegates on its corporate and executive education programmes. The School also boasts links with more than 800 companies and 50 academic institutions across 40 different countries.

A programme of events is planned to celebrate the School’s 30 year heritage, including roundtable discussions on economics, retail management and women in business. Coinciding with the celebrations is the relocation to new, state-of-the-art premises in the University’s refurbished Newton building, part of an ambitious estate’s regeneration and transformation programme.

Joining Nottingham Business School for its various celebrations will be staff, students, members of the business community and alumni. One such member of the alumni is Jonathan Montanaro, who studied International Business from 2002 to 2006 and spent his placement year working in private wealth management for Merrill Lynch in Los Angeles, California. He now works as an associate in global banking for Deutsche Bank in London.

Jonathan said: “It’s great to be celebrating 30 years as part of Nottingham Business School. I chose to study there because of its strong industry links, but I was also very impressed with the placement opportunities and the dedication of the staff in helping students find a role that would be both rewarding and enjoyable. The experience I gained in that year and the breadth of education I received was invaluable.

“Without studying at one of the top business schools in the country, being taught by highly experienced and knowledgeable staff, and the help and support in finding a suitable placement, I know a career in this industry would not have been possible - for that I will always be grateful to Nottingham Business School and I wish them every success for the next 30 years."

Professor Baback Yazdani, dean of Nottingham Business School, said: “We're looking forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary with everyone involved in Nottingham Business School, both past and present. The School has gone from strength to strength over the last 30 years and we're looking to the future with further expansion of our course portfolio and our move into the new iconic Newton Building at the centre of Nottingham.”
