Three ethical lions on a shirt
Three 'Left Lions' on shirt from Nottingham Trent University graduates
Football fans in Nottingham will be proudly displaying three ethical Lions on their shirts during this year's World Cup, after a collaborative project between Nottingham Trent University graduates and local magazine, LeftLion.
May Cortazzi, fashion design graduate and founder of Regenerate Clothing, and David Blenkey, a former design studies student and now Nottingham Trent University Students Union publications officer, were tasked by LeftLion to design and produce the ethical t-shirts.
David designed the three LeftLions logo, which is displayed as a team shield, while May sourced the materials and manufactured the t-shirts. They have been made using 100% organic cotton, which was grown and manufactured using wind power energy in India, and were shipped to the UK to reduce carbon footprint. They were then hand-printed locally by Regenerate Clothing.
May Cortazzi said: "I wanted to get involved in this project after my recent trip to Indonesia where sweat shops are a key problem. The idea was to provide an ethical alternative for football supporters so they could support England whilst supporting fair working conditions in the Far East."
The t-shirts are £15 and available in red and white, visit the LeftLion website to order.
