• David’s visual practice ranges from traditional large format photographic images to digital video and audio.
• There are two current practice projects through which David’s research concerns operate; the recording of performance, especially the performance of music; and, a series of visual and audio encounters with environmental spaces. In particular, he has an interest in the relationship of sound to the moving image.
• Within these projects David’s research focuses on the presence and transformation of visual and audio media in contemporary culture. Two prominent stands of investigation are; an analysis of practice within established forms of visual and audio media under cultural and technological change; an analysis of research material drawn from a range of disciplines that offers new perspectives on understanding visual and audio representation.

David is able to offer supervision to students who wish to undertake postgraduate projects to develop critical practice within the photographic media (photography, film, video, TV, Internet and computer based picture making).

David is interested in future collaborative projects within the audio-visual and performance arts both as academic research and as practice.
