Katja is a practising artist who is interested in the relationship between what is shown and what might only be suggested in the photograph. She explores how photography, in its representation of architectural space and landscape, frames and refers both to human presence and to transience. Focusing on institutional sites and woodlands, her photographs do not show any people, leaving only the memory of activity. Through this apparent emptiness she intends to prompt the viewer to reflect on their experiences with such sites, allowing space for the viewer's imagination to enter the photographic field.
