Job responsibilities
Dean Hardman's main teaching interests lie in the fields of discourse analysis and sociolinguistics, particularly in critical approaches to the study of language and online communication. He teaches on the level one Linguistics modules Exploring English Language (LING 102), where he lectures on the History of the English language, and Introduction to Language and Linguistics (LING 101), and is responsible for the design and delivery of the level two module Discourse Analysis (LING 215). At level three he designed and teaches Media Discourse (LING 315). All of these linguistics modules form part of the Joint Honours Humanities programme. He also contributes to the MA in Media and Globalisation, where he supervises dissertations and leads sessions on critical discourse analysis.
