Overview

Matt teaches on both theory and practice modules on BA Media. He has collaborated with the NTU Eco Team and Eco Web on video projects involving the Level Two Media Practice students. These videos help to promote NTU's commitment to sustainability and awareness of environmental issues.

Matt teaches Reading the Screen (Level One), Introduction to Media Practive (Level One), Intermediate Media Practice (Module Leader) (Level Two), Hollywood and British Cinema (Level Two) and Advanced Media Practice (Level Three).

During 2004 - 2007, Matt undertook a PhD sponsored by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Research, scholarly and professional interests

Matt's research and scholarly interests include:

  • British film (before the 1990s); the British holiday (social history and representations of); and Classical Hollywood.
  • Matt has collaborated with colleague Georgia Stone on the design and delivery of a practical Media Taster event for Widening Participation/Schools and Colleges from 2009 - present. He also worked with Georgia on some of the filming for It's Not the Dinners, which was written and produced by pupils at Heymann Primary School, West Bridgford, Nottingham. The film won the Best Film by under 12s in the First Light Awards 2011.
  • He is currently collaborating on a fine art/performance video project with Dr Maria Collingham.
  • He is the co-creator of a long-running guerrilla film project in Leicester (1993 - present).
