Overview

Pat Iger is a Senior Lecturer in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and a Teacher Trainer. She is also Subject Leader for the undergraduate modules in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Programme Leader for the Cambridge CELTA and Deputy Programme Manager for the University Language Programme (ULP). Pat trains on the Delta Modules and MA English as a Foreign Language (ELT) courses. In addition, she leads modules and teaches EFL on the following courses:

  • University Language Programme (ULP)
  • Pre-Sessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP)
  • In-sessional Support Programmes. 

Following four years teaching General and Business English in Istanbul, she returned to Nottingham in 1984. Apart from a five-year maternity break in the early 1990s, Pat then worked for local Further Education establishments teaching EFL, Business English and Turkish. She started working at NTU in 2000. Pat holds an RSA Cert. TEFL (now CELTA), a Trinity College Diploma in TESOL and has recently completed her MA in ELT. She is especially interested in teacher education and has recently been studying ways of building self-esteem in trainee teachers.
