Job responsibilities
Brendan is Chair of the Research Committee in the Division of Psychology which is responsible for research strategy, developing and publicising research activities and outputs. He lectures on qualitative research methods, critical social psychology and gender and supervises projects in the area of men, masculinities and health. He is a member of the Psychology Executive Group and sits on the School of Social Sciences Research Committee and the College of Business, Law and Social Science Research Committee.

Brendan prefers to supervise projects on men and masculinities using broadly discursive methods but is open to supervising other qualitative projects, particularly on gender issues.
Information for prospective clients
Brendan is an expert in qualitative research methods and his research has focussed mainly on men and masculinity, particularly on men's health issues. His research has been funded by various bodies, including the Economic and Social Research Council and NHS trusts. His work has been published in a range of high profile journals and he has published three books in collaboration with colleagues. He edits two scholarly journals: Qualitative Research in Psychology (Taylor and Francis), and Social Psychology and Personality Compass ([Critical Psychology Section] Wiley).
