The Third Annual Students' Writing in Transition Symposium 14 September 2010
The Third Annual Students' Writing in Transition Symposium
A one-day symposium at Nottingham Trent University
Tuesday 14 September
After last year's successful event, The Centre for Academic Standards and Quality is hosting another one-day staff development symposium to look at strategies for helping students adapt to writing in higher education.
The symposium will explore three themes:
- What are the differences between learning in school, college and university and what impact might that have on the way that students engage with learning in HE?
- What can institutions do to support students to make the transition into learning at university?
- How do we help students to write in an appropriate manner?
The key-note speakers for this year are Dr. Kathy Harrington and Dr. Peter O'Neill from London Metropolitan University's Write Now CETL.
The day will include a range of sessions from NTU staff and external speakers exploring the three key themes.
The event has developed as a consequence of NTU's involvement in the Learnhigher CETL and from staff and student feedback gathered throughout Welcome Week.
For further information or if you would like to display a poster at the event, please contact Rebecca Bell or Sarah Johnson.
Registration closes on Friday 9 September 2010. You can book a place at the symposium here.
