This course is designed for those working in the field of education at all levels. There are three stages leading to the Masters degree which are Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) and Masters (MA/MSc).
It is suitable for both teachers, lecturers and administrators working in schools, post-compulsory or university sectors. It is also ideal for those who have completed an accredited teacher-training programme or degree and wish to study full-time. We may also be able to design this course for groups of staff and deliver it in your establishment. (Subject to viability and the University's normal quality assurance checks.)

The course offers a range of modules including:

- Research Methods.
Your choice of modules will determine the name of the award you receive. For those wishing to gain an MA/MSc award, the Research Skills and Dissertation modules are mandatory.
The six named award pathways leading to MA/MSc, PGCert or PGDip are:
- MA Special and Inclusive Education
- MA Educational Leadership and Management
- MA Teaching and Learning
- MA Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
- MA Early Years
- MSc Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education.
Alternatively you have the opportunity to choose freely from the full range of modules in order to study for the MA Education generic award.
Modules include:
- Innovation in Teaching and Learning (Independent Learning)
- Mentoring in an Educational Setting
- Leading Change in Education
- Behaviour Management: Learner and Practice Issues
- Participation and Voice.
Assessment
Modules are assessed, there are no formal examinations. Students will also work on a small scale research project, literature review and a research based dissertation.
Study modes
A range of study modes are available including part-time attendance at NTU on Thursday 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm, eLearning and blended learning, NOW learning rooms (NTU online workspace) and distance learning. A full-time study mode is also available. Modules taught at NTU can on occasion be undertaken in your own institution by prior arrangement.
There are opportunities for students who successfully complete the MA/MSc to continue their studies by enrolling on a Professional Doctorate, an MPhil or a PhD.

Postgraduate Professional Development Programme (PPD)
If you already have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and currently teach in the compulsory school sector you may be eligible for financial support.
