Law with Business is a Qualifying Law Degree that provides an excellent foundation for further legal training along with a good understanding of general business theory and practice. These two disciplines are highly compatible as a career in Law demands a high degree of commercial awareness, whilst business success depends upon a sound appreciation of the legal environment.

Modules (2012 entry)
In the first and second years, you will study five compulsory modules of which three are Law modules and two are focused on Business. In the third year, you will study four compulsory Law modules and select two optional Business modules.

If you complete your LLB with us and attain a 2.1 or above we will guarantee you a place on our excellent Legal Practice Course for intending solicitors.

Employability

Certificate in Professional Practice
At the end of Year One, you can apply to enrol on the Certificate in Professional Practice. This additional qualification awarded by Nottingham Trent University enables students to further their work-based skills.
For the Certificate you will need to undertake independent mini placements during vacations (amounting to at least ten weeks in total) in order to gain work experience in a professional environment. You will receive an introduction to the Certificate in the first year through the Professional Environment module.

Work placements and internships
Many students enjoy the challenge of arranging their own work placement or a practical internship which forms part of many of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It can give you invaluable insight into applying for a job, undertaking practical and theoretical application tests and experiencing what a real job interview is like.
What are the benefits of a work placement?
Practical work experience has many benefits for you. It can help you in your day-to-day studies and is often paid. It can enhance your commercial awareness and your ability to link theory and practice which will be an invaluable skill in your future career. Although a work placement is highly recommended, obtaining one is based on an individual's efforts and is not guaranteed.
Entry requirements
- You will need 280 UCAS Tariff points minimum achieved from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications, excluding General Studies.
- Five GCSE passes at Grade C or above are needed, including Maths and English.
When assessing your application we will take into account not only your academic ability but the information provided within your personal statement and reference. These should demonstrate your motivation to do the course and any other relevant information such as work or voluntary experience.
