About the course
The MSc in Management and Entrepreneurial eBusiness provides future managers with a grounding in the operation of key functional areas of business and the way that these are integrated in globally orientated organisations. This route goes beyond traditional Information system or eBusiness offerings and focuses on preparing students to be hybrid managers. At the end of the year participants will be able to demonstrate their ability to apply, synthesise and critically review contemporary theories and approaches to e-business development and implementation management.
It is designed for those from non-IS or eBusiness backgrounds who wish to enter this profession, as well as those who may already possess some computing knowledge, but who wish to gain a qualification reflecting contemporary management perspectives.
We have recently introduced a new framework for our full-time Masters in Management programme, covering some significant and exciting developments that have come about through consultation with our students, staff and alumni. The new framework will facilitate greater engagement with external businesses and organisations, leading to an enhanced student learning experience.

Course content
To exploit market and technological opportunities, managers and entrepreneurs need to take a more systematic approach and draw upon sound theoretical and practical frameworks to:
- exploit profitable market-orientated innovations
- develop the resource system and infrastructure to support value creation
- implement the initiative in new or existing businesses.
This route therefore draws upon various disciplines to prepare participants with the knowledge and skills required to develop, design and implement new technology innovations and market opportunities.

Induction
We provide a comprehensive induction phase, which includes a mandatory residential course. This is an important part of the course and must be completed before module teaching starts.
Study and support
A variety of teaching and learning methods are employed including, lectures, seminars, case studies, interactive workshops, discussions, business simulations and group activities. As part of the course, careers advisers will run a series of workshops, where you can identify methods and strategies to enable you to effectively pursue your career goals.
Assessment
Varied methods are used throughout the course, including presentations, group work, management reports, and examinations.
In-sessional English language support
For those students whose first language is not English, the Business School provides in-sessional support for academic writing specific to the requirements of the course.

Graduate employability
Graduate destinations from this course include, senior management positions, IS careers, international employment and marketing roles. A sizeable proportion of students join graduate management trainee programmes and some have been offered jobs with the SME company for whom they completed their consultancy project.
Career development
As part of the course, careers advisers will run a series of workshops where students can identify methods and strategies to enable them to effectively pursue their career goals. The workshops will focus on both home and international students and concentrate on developing skills and occupational awareness.
Although this course does not currently offer a placement, the applied Consultancy Project provides the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge gained from the previous modules within a real life UK business setting. The Consultancy Project enables you to undertake an assignment to develop your consultancy skills and gain a detailed understanding of the management and operation of a modern business.
The consultancy project
Designed to integrate and operationalise theory, the Consultancy Project provides groups of programme members with the opportunity to put theory into practice in a real life UK business setting. The module aims to develop the capacity to work as part of a management team through active participation in a live consultancy project, and to enhance the ability to communicate clearly; argue rationally; and apply strategic concepts to produce real business solutions - given time constraints and conditions of uncertainty.
The real-world consultancy project, carried out in collaboration with local organisations, continues to be a key factor in the success of our courses and one on which we are keen to build. The new framework, in which the consultancy experience forms the basis of a 40-credit project, has preserved and extended this opportunity to provide you with work-based experience that is of genuine value to your future career.
Entry requirements
An undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate honours degree (2.2 or above). All applicants will be required to demonstrate a commitment to the subject they wish to study and should demonstrate how their chosen programme of study will benefit them in their future career.
