The content of the course has been developed in consultation with employers to ensure that participants gain the relevant competencies for various stages of a marketing career.

Course content
This internationally recognised qualification builds on the fundamental concepts and principles of Marketing. It focuses on the key aspects of managing the marketing function, in order to develop a greater awareness of the practical implications of these aspects in an organisational context.
How do you study?
The modules are delivered consecutively on a part-time basis, primarily in the evenings and some Saturdays. For more information on the days / times of delivery please contact the course leader. Study methods will consist of a combination of lectures, small-group work, problem-solving exercises, videos and case studies.
Is there any room for professional development?
Students who are awarded the qualification at Professional Diploma will be eligible to become an Associate Member (ACIM). If they meet the relevant criteria individuals may also upgrade to Full Membership of the Institute (MCIM).
For those students who are already CIM members, attendance on this course qualifies for Continuing Professional Development hours.
Assessment
There is a combination of unit assessment methods which include work-based projects so that participants can apply their knowledge immediately to their own business.
There will be four assessment points throughout the year in order to offer you more flexibility.

You require one of the following:
- CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing (2001 or 2008 syllabus)
- a business or marketing BA or MSc Degree where a minimum of one third of the credits come from marketing
- experience in a marketing management role, sufficient to have provided you with the ability to demonstrate the learning outcomes of the Professional Certificate in Marketing if required, through successful completion of the Level 6 Entry test
- you must currently be employed, or be able to gain access to an organisation upon which to base assignments.
