International field trip
Each year the MSc Construction Management students have the opportunity to take part in an international field trip.
The trip gives an international perspective to the course and introduces students to some of the real-world challenges in the construction industry

Dissertation
The Postgraduate Dissertation module places an emphasis on autonomous and independent learning. It is instrumental in enabling students to embed and integrate knowledge, understanding and skills in a professional context, and to develop, improve and demonstrate their abilities to undertake high quality research and critical analysis and reflection.
Site visits
We understand the importance of keeping up-to-date with industry progress so we organise regular visits to construction sites and national exhibitions. You will also have the opportunity to take part in an international study visit. You will be assessed on the learning outcomes of each module.
Assessment
There are a variety of assessment methods including: examinations, assignments (including essays, case studies, portfolios and presentations), group projects and a dissertation.

This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Newly refurbished buildings
During the 2010 spring term the newly refurbished Newton and Arkwright buildings reopened after an extensive regeneration project.
These impressive Grade II* listed buildings, designed by Hopkins, have undergone a multi-million pound transformation and now provide beautiful, light studio space, dedicated CAD rooms, a brand new Student Services Centre, state-of-the-art lecture theatres and seminar rooms, and a range of social spaces.

Students from this course will graduate with improved professional and technical skills in the managerial, economic, legal, and business skills needed in the construction sector.
Many graduates have gone on to successful careers in both the private and public sectors and others have continued studying to PhD level.
Although this course does not offer formal placements, it is vocationally focused and benefits from strong links with industry.
Entry requirements
You will need a good construction-related UK honours degree, or equivalent, or corporate membership of an approved professional institution.
We welcome applications from mature applicants with non-standard qualifications who have relevant work experience. These applications will be considered on an individual basis.
English language entry requirements
English language entry requirements for courses in the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment and a full list of all English language qualifications accepted by the University are available on our website.
Pre-sessional English courses
We offer Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP) courses from six to 30 weeks for students who need help achieving these requirements. Even if you have already met the minimum entry requirements you could still benefit, as many students do, from the study skills and orientation to the UK education system that is offered by a short PEAP course.

In-sessional English language support
In-sessional English language support classes are available to all international (non-EU) students studying on degree courses at NTU. There is no extra charge for these classes.
How to apply
Applications should be made directly to the University via the online application form.
You will be required to provide the following documentation with your application:
- a copy of your university / college qualification certificate
- a copy of your university / college qualification transcript
- a copy of your English language test certificate (if applicable).
If you do not have a first degree in an appropriate subject, but extensive work experience, a reference will be required.
Applicants are advised to provide a comprehensive personal statement which clearly indicates why they have selected the course, their motivations for it, and how they expect to benefit from it.
