Cancer and Heart Disease

This online module can be studied on its own as a CPD module or as part of MSc Biomedical Science by Flexible Learning and aims to provide you with an understanding of the pathogenesis of two major diseases: cancer and heart disease.

The lectures / seminars in cancer will discuss cancer aetiology, genotypic and phenotypic properties associated with tumour progression, metastasis and current approaches to cancer gene therapy and immunotherapy. 

The course will investigate and evaluate the biochemical mechanisms underlying development, progression and regression of atherosclerosis, including the effect of diet on the development and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
