Cell Culture and Antibody Technology

This online module can be studied on its own as a CPD module or as part of MSc Biomedical Science by Flexible Learning.  It develops an advanced knowledge and understanding of the nature, properties and applications of animal cell cultures and antibodies, the methods used to engineer specific antibodies and to detect their reaction with antigens.

This module develops an advanced knowledge and understanding of the nature, properties and applications of animal cell cultures and antibodies, the methods used to engineer specific antibodies and to detect their reaction with antigens.

You will study:

  • interrelationships of cell culture technology, antibody technology and other areas of biomedical science, molecular biosciences and biotechnology
  • current trends and future developments in the use of cell cultures in toxicity testing and the use of antibodies in analysis and therapy
  • the elucidation of cell signalling pathways
  • the commercial and social impact of these technologies.
