You will study:

• drug targets and the mechanisms of drug action, including classification of receptors and ion channels by traditional methods and modern molecular approaches 
• the influence of disposition on the clinical response to drugs 
• the effects of drugs at the organ and cellular levels through the use of specific examples and case studies 
• the influence of polymorphisms on drug action 
• the application of molecular techniques in the characterisation of drug targets, including receptor and ion-channel subtypes, and the implications for drug discovery.

Entry requirements

• Applicants will already be working in a UK-based laboratory which is approved by the IBMS for training
• A UK honours degree (Minimum 2.2) in a Biological subject or equivalent is also required
