All students will study three subject areas, one of which will be Professional Studies. It is this subject which gives the Joint Honours course its distinctive character.

You will undertake one core module in each year of your degree to develop your transferable and employability skills. In Year One you will be supported in your studies by an individual and group based learning module which develops, for example, research and writing skills. In Year Two students undertake a work based learning module including a 30-day placement in an organisation of your choice. Finally, in Year Three, a research based learning module enables you to pursue enquiry into an area of your choice.

Early Years students will develop their understanding of the social construct of childhood and the key importance of the holistic nature of the development of children aged up to five years. The modules have been developed to meet the needs of people interested in working alongside very young children and their families in diverse settings, in care, and education.

Psychology is a subject that covers all aspects of human behaviour and interaction and helps students to understand why and how we behave as we do. The strength of this subject is its applied nature.
