This project intends to address art history and conservation research questions through the application of novel imaging technology developed in the Imaging Science for Archaeology and Art Conservation research group.
Dr Marcello Di Bonito has recently undertaken research, jointly with Dr Gianfilippo De Astis and Dr Monica Piochi of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) in Italy, on the volcanic activity in the Phlegrean Fields, Naples, Italy.
This current project examines how scientists reason in contexts of uncertainty. Its claim is that so-called fallacies can serve an important, and largely overlooked, role in facilitating inquiry in these contexts.
The centre is dedicated to developing new philosophical perspectives and techniques, derived from both ancient and contemporary philosophical sources, in order to enhance everyday cultural practices.
