Our research groups and centres are a communications catalyst for activity of hundreds of academic staff members. The groups and centres encourage exploration, enquiry and collaboration between staff and students. More than 70 research groups and centres work across the nine Academic Schools with an aim to shape lives and society.

Sustainable Consumption is a multidisciplinary research group that focuses on people’s influence on sustainability as users of products and services, ranging from consumer durables and clothing to buildings.
The school has been involved with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust for over ten years.
Dr Nicholas Midgley has recently undertaken research, jointly with Dr Steve Coulson at the University Centre in Svalbard, on glacier mice in Iceland.
As part of our research and community impact programme the English team is centrally involved in developing both these one-name societies.
