Our research groups and centres are a communications catalyst for activity of hundreds of academic staff members. The groups and centres encourage exploration, enquiry and collaboration between staff and students. More than 70 research groups and centres work across the nine Academic Schools with an aim to shape lives and society.

The Centre for Travel Writing Studies (CTWS) exists to facilitate, promote and disseminate scholarly research on travel writing and its contexts, without restriction of period, locus, or type of travel writing.
This research group draws together staff from the widest range of age phases and many different curriculum specialisms within the School of Education and the wider University.
The results of the UK's 2008 Research Assessment Exercise have placed NTU amongst the leading institutions for research in Media, Communications and Cultural Studies, with 70% of its research being rated as world leading or of international excellence
The centre is dedicated to developing new philosophical perspectives and techniques, derived from both ancient and contemporary philosophical sources, in order to enhance everyday cultural practices.
