Our research groups and centres are a communications catalyst for activity of hundreds of academic staff members. The groups and centres encourage exploration, enquiry and collaboration between staff and students. More than 70 research groups and centres work across the nine Academic Schools with an aim to shape lives and society.

The Centre for Travel Writing Studies (CTWS) exists to facilitate, promote and disseminate scholarly research on travel writing and its contexts, without restriction of period, locus, or type of travel writing.
The school has been involved with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust for over ten years.
This project examines why young people appear to be increasingly disillusioned with politics in Britain. It is based on a national survey of over a thousand British 18 year olds conducted in 2011, as well as the findings from fourteen focus groups.
