Our research groups and centres are a communications catalyst for activity of hundreds of academic staff members. The groups and centres encourage exploration, enquiry and collaboration between staff and students. More than 70 research groups and centres work across the nine Academic Schools with an aim to shape lives and society.

The Creative Textiles Group aims to promote research in textiles, dress and material culture (both theory and practice-based).
Dr Nicholas Midgley has recently undertaken research, jointly with Dr Steve Coulson at the University Centre in Svalbard, on glacier mice in Iceland.
Our research interests are interconnected by five research clusters: Citizens, Parties and Political Action; Ethics, Ecology, Identity; Insecurity, Political Violence and Change; Middle East and North Africa and Politics, Innovation and Pedagogy.
The RISE project will assist refugees to improve their employment skills.
