Geography and Environmental Science

Brackenhurst campus: Study Geography and Environmental Science in context

Our rural location lends itself to the practical application of surveying, GIS and GPS mapping of over 200 hectares of varying landscape. We have on-site resources including:

  • a weather station
  • wetland and streams for water analysis
  • mixed arable and conservation land
  • modern computing suites.

Our location is close to many national areas of geographical importance including the Peak district, Sherwood Forest and the Lincolnshire coastline.

Active research groups include glaciology and natural hazard risk analysis and response activity.

As one of the greenest universities in the UK, we are leading the way in practical integration of environmental sciences into the world of construction and sustainable development. Our flagship Newton building in Nottingham boasts one of the largest sedum roofs in Europe.

NTU is a leading provider of related architecture, business and design courses such as Quantity Surveying, Planning and Property Development and Environmental Management.
