Gain work experience
Some foundation degree students are required to complete 150 hours work placement with a relevant employer of their choice.

NTU has one of the best graduate employment records in the UK because our world-class courses give you the skills today's employers need. NTU and its predecessor institutions have a long tradition of providing students with work placement opportunities. We have links with over 6,000 businesses and organisations, so there are often opportunities to take a paid work placement as part of your course.

Most of our courses have a work-based learning option, giving you hands-on experience and real confidence. This can vary from a year-long paid sandwich placement at an employer, to a live brief worked on as a project under supervision of your tutor at University.

Giving you competitive advantage
In today's competitive job market graduates often find that a degree is no longer enough to attract employers. A work placement is a valuable addition to your education. You'll gain vital real-life work experience that will make you stand out from the crowd and enhance your employability in your chosen field of work.

Benefits of taking a work placement

On undertaking a work placement you will:

  • gain valuable first-hand experience of your field
  • make professional contacts
  • greatly enhance your employability prospects.

At NTU, we value the benefits of offering, obtaining and developing key skills in your subject area. Many of our courses are designed with this in mind.
