Posters accepted at the British Conference for Undergraduate Researchers, March 2012
As well as lecturing students across the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, many of our lecturers conduct research of pedagogic, national and international value. Here are some examples of research from just 2 of our Academic staff that will be presented at high profile forums this year;

Abstract; At the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, Nottingham Trent University, a novel research area has been significantly enhanced through the inclusion and assistance of undergraduate researchers. We have recently commenced a staff-directed research programme to examine a wide range of aspects of the performance animal (equine and canine) and have identified that this research area has been an attractive area for encouraging student involvement with academic and applied research. Cognisant of the value of student engagement in promoting the success of student performance in university education, this area of research seems ideally suited to appeal to both academically and vocationally oriented students.
We will present reflections and evaluations on the value of implementing performance animal research as an integral curriculum development opportunity, in addition to its value as an additional activity for interested students. The overarching goal in both cases is to enhance the performance of our animal athletes and ultimately our students.
Also accepted at BCUR is a poster on research by Cassie White (BSc Equine Sports Science (Equine Psychology) Programme Leader) titled Engaging Undergraduates through an international collaborative research project.
Jacqueline was invited to talk at the Kennel Club's Canine Sports Science Seminar on 6th November 2011 on recent research that included student involvement and data collection on aspects of canine athletes performance.
Cassie has had 2 posters accepted for the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) on 21st June 2012 in York;
A preliminary investigation into the effect of summer turnout rugs on body surface temperature of grazing horses.
The equine meat industry: a comparison of information available in the United Kingdom and Canada
Congratulations to both Jacqueline and Cassie on their impressive portfolio of research this year.
