We have four unique laboratories dedicated to analysis and research:

Food Laboratory
Students use the food laboratory for ice cream making, cheese making, food preparation and packaging various foods into trays and bags.

We also hold courses over the summer and invite environmental health professionals to use the laboratory for training work.

Chemistry Laboratory
We have various pieces of equipment: an Ion chromatograph to analyse water samples and a gas chromatograph to lower the concentration of water samples. Students benefit from use of an Induced Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrophometer (ICP OES) which is based at the Clifton Campus.

Microbiology Laboratory
Students use the equipment for food technology including fruit fungal analysis. There is an incubator which can create various temperatures to grow micro organisms.

General Labroratory
This area is used by students from a variety of courses from Equine Science to Geography and students can complete food analysis, looking at the contents of starch, carbohydrates, sugar and salt.
