Outdoor classroom
The Brackenhurst campus boasts a stunning 200 hectare estate consisting of farmland, woodland and streams set in the heart of rural Nottinghamshire.
The campus is the student’s outdoor classroom where a wealth of practical based experience can be found. Students from various courses use the estate for research, field work and the management and conservation of the countryside.
There are a number of species on the campus, including:
- water vole (Arvicola terrestris)
- badger (Meles meles)
- harvest mouse (Micromys minutus)
- water shrew (Neomys fodiens)
- bats (Order chiroptera)
- barn owl (Tyto alba)
- yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)
- tree sparrow (Passer montanus)
- house sparrow (Passer domesticus)
- great crested newt (Triturus cristatus)
