Partnerships
In the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences we are very proud of our partnerships with a range of veterinary practices.
Our students spend 70 weeks of the three year FdSc Veterinary Nursing course in affiliated veterinary training practices to gain a deeper understanding of the real life environment, assisting with owners and patients needs.
The placements give them practical experience within the work place and they complete a portfolio of practical assessments set by the RCVS, with the mark used towards their final qualifying grades.
Staff within the School have been working closely with the veterinary practices to ensure that contact is maintained both with the student and the principle assessor in the practice. The student is integrated into the normal working rota of the practice and has the opportunity to join in all the day to day activities, giving them a full and varied experience of the veterinary nursing working environment.
Currently we have 19 training practices under our VNAC and a further 15 practices that take our FdSc Veterinary Nursing students.
